What makes the Country Classic Jr. different from others in this line is that it is considerably smaller. Not necessarily that it's designed for younger players or beginners, although they would benefit, but it is just a bit thinner and smaller, and designed to be more lightweight.

When it comes to historical accuracy, don't look for in a country Classic Jr. This guitar features a maple body and neck, ebony fretboard, and neoclassic, mother-of-pearl, thumb print inlays. Unlike some of the others in the series, the Junior also has genuine f-holes rather than simulated ones. The sound is produced by two high-sensitivity FilterTron pickups, a rocking bar bridge, and a gold-plated Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.

You can get the Junior in a variety of finishes, but the natural walnut finish paired with the gold-plated hardware is absolutely stunning. Between the Grover tuners, the classic Gretsch control knobs and switches, and a gold plexi pick guard, this is truly a sight to behold. As an added bonus, the 6122-JR is an absolute delight to play. Despite the criticisms of those who prefer historical accuracy, these new Country Classics are great instruments in their own rite. Except for some balance issues which can be corrected by simply moving the strap retention knobs, there is nothing about this guitar not to like. Depending on their condition, you can find them for $1,500-$3,000.
