To understand how important a reproduction this is, a little history helps. The legendary Chet Atkins was a big fan of Gretsch guitars but really loved the feedback-eliminating construction of Gibson's solid center-block semi-hollows. He tried to get Gretsch to copy that construction for their own hollow electrics, and although they compromised on a partial center block, it gave birth to an entire line of Chet Atkins guitars. Atkins pulled his name and endorsement in the 1970s, after Baldwin nearly destroyed the Gretsch Company, but returned in the 1990s after Fender took over. The 6120 WCST has returned Gretsch to the glory days of Chet Atkins' original design.

It's important to note that the 6120 WCST is a custom, handmade model from America with a period-accurate 15.5" body. If you have a modern 6120 Nashville with a 16" body it's a Japanese manufactured guitar and not a genuine WCST. The guitar also includes the Seymour Duncan Bigsby tailpiece, double-bound maple body, rosewood fretboard, over-sized pickguard, block inlays, and stunning gold hardware. Even if it didn't play great, the 6120 WCST looks awesome enough to simply hang on your wall. Depending on whether you buy used or brand-new, these babies can run anywhere from $2,500 to $10,000. But trust us, it's money well spent for a handmade Gretsch.
