Which guitar should I buy?

I'm looking at the Epiphone Les Paul 1956 Gold Top & Gretsch Pro Jet also with Gold Top.
Both have the look I want, both fall into my price range... Does anyone have experience with either of these?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the advice regarding buying a REAL les paul.... but as you can see from my original post - the epiphone falls into my price range so what makes you think I can afford a Gibson?!? If you can find a brand new Gibson Les Paul goin for less than 400pounds then please let me know :0)

I've played both guitars and would rate them equally. I recommend you find a nearby guitar shop that has both of them, and play them yourself. One might feel better in your hands, or provide a preferable sound quality.
